summer thus far

Ever since the semester ended, I've just been twiddling my thumbs and catching up on catching up. Consider this blog my semi-creative outlet or a forum to practice writing while summer's in session, similar to how surgeons knit to maintain digital dexterity. I haven't decided if this will continue to be some random journal I enter whenever I feel necessary or if this will ever narrow a focus.

So summer thus far. Although it's barely been a week, it feels as though a month's passed. Judging by facebook photo tags, I've quite outdone myself with end-0f-the-semester/quarter celebrations. It's liberating to know I have nothing, other than work, to constantly worry about. No offense to my peers, but my job in the retail/service sector was like a mental recess for me throughout the semester for it entails work that requires absolutely no mental acuity. Of course I can't allow my brain to take a full vacation. I've already begun my reading list, a list that I have compiled while released on my own recognizance from school. I finally picked up "Game Change," which chronicles the 2008 presidential election as a narrative, mixing political analysis with detailed reconstructions of scenes and conversations of the race. I've heard from peers how "juicy" and "spicy" this novel is. I mean, if Edwards' affair is in this, it's gotta be a bit juicy...

Oh right, so summer thus far. I began this post with a photo of Zooey Deschanel, beloved actress and musician, because I saw She & Him perform a show at the Fox Theater in Oakland on Saturday. However, I'm too tired to write about that now, only to say it was such an amazing and fun show. It had been ages since I've been to show I've really looked forward to. I must start going to shows again. And oh yeah, I obsessively love M. Ward.
